M arketing Monkey develop tailored marketing solutions for SMEs and entrepreneurs. We have over 17 years’ experience in producing business and marketing strategies for businesses across different industries and have a real passion for helping businesses grow and suceed through marketing.

What do you do?

We provide marketing services from digital, social, web and email to content, training, mentoring and supporting teams and individuals. We understand that not all businesses have huge budgets to invest in marketing and once we’ve understood our clients objectives, vision and strengths, we produce a fully tailored and affordable plan to help them get to where they want to be.

Why did you start?

It was time to jump out of the ‘rat race’ and start our own business, combining over 17 years marketing experience and 10 years business and project management experience. We always wanted to create a quirky, clever brand that SMEs particularly can resonate with - hence Marketing Monkey was formed.

What has your journey been like?

It has certainly been a journey in which we’ve learnt about how to manage relationships quickly and effectively and how important it is to work with honesty and modesty. Mostly, it has been so much fun to work with so many different types of clients in diverse industries. We have clients including a financial investment business, a musician, a public sector client and a food writer.

What challenges have you encountered?

One of the main challenges we encounter is convincing businesses that marketing is an investment rather than a cost. Another challenge has been to balance providing free advice with charging for marketing strategy. There is a lot of free information on the Internet, but what we offer is an actionable marketing plan.

How did you overcome the challenges?

We are very good at listening to clients and providing tailor made services that will work for them, which has helped us gain some good clients very quickly. We aren’t a pushy sales-led company, selling off the shelf solutions, we simply have an open conversation with businesses and provide an honest service. We have overcome resistance to spend on marketing when we have shown how we can make business owners lives easier by being their ‘marketing arm’.

Where are you now?

We are in year 2 and juggling clients, proposals and our own marketing strategy! We are really enjoying working with our clients and learning new techniques and best practices. We are speaking to different potential partners too, to strengthen our market presence.

Where do you hope to be?

We aim to be one of London’s leading, fun and successful marketing solutions team – a ‘go to’ for marketing strategy, training, recruitment and inspiration.
